Happy New Year!
Obviously I’m a few days late on the New Year’s post but I have been EXHAUSTED (!!) after coming back from our trip to California. It was a lot of fun and I cannot wait to share more about what Mike and I did while we were there. For today’s post I wanted to share some resolutions/goals. One reason being that I think it will help to keep me accountable in the coming year and two because I’m hoping it will inspire your resolutions/hopes/goals for the coming year.
Here are a few tips I have learned that help me stick to my goals throughout the year. I have figured out throughout the years it is important to be mindful with how I’m sticking to my resolutions. I have found that one of the best ways to do that is writing your goal/resolution down. This past year I wrote down my goals for 2018 and stuck it on my fridge. I was forced to look at my goals every. single. day. This really helped me to think about what I was doing to work towards my goals or what I needed to change in order to make them happen. It’s also been helpful for me (and hopefully you, too) to have a plan for how I am going to go after my goals and the steps I’m going to take to make it happen.
For me, my number one resolution is to be proactive about wearing sunscreen every day (as opposed to only in the summer when I’m sitting outside by a pool.) This probably seems like a silly resolution when compared to the more typical “work out/eat better” resolution, but it is just as important. Did you know, you can still develop skin cancer when it is cloudy or rainy so duh it’s important to wear sunscreen 100% of the time! PLUS, it helps keep you younger looking and slows down the development of wrinkles and you know I want to keep looking young (who doesn’t?!) Basically it is a win-win. I’m down for any resolution that’s going to keep me healthy and keep me looking young for as long as possible.
My second resolution is the more typical work out and eat better resolution. I started this resolution last year by adding working out to my routine and I want to continue what I started in 2018. I typically work out 2-3 times a week. I’m hoping to up it this year by going to 4-5 times. I have found a workout that works for me and really love going (which totally helps!!) As far as eating better, I’m definitely NOT going on a diet (I love cheeseburgers too much, sorry not sorry) but I do know how important what you put in your mouth is so I want to be more mindful of this. After being on vacay for a week, my body was honestly craving a salad/ homemade food. I have definitely found that cooking my own meals has helped me to be better about what I eat. Plus with a bunch of different ways to get recipes there’s really no reason to not cook at home. It has turned into one of my favorite things to do.
Overall, 2019 is about being the best version of myself and making good choices for my body. 2018 was a really great year and I definitely created a good starting point for 2019. I’m hopeful that 2019 will be the BEST year yet and I can’t wait to see what this year brings.
I hope my goals for the year have helped you come up with a resolution for the new year if you didn’t have one in mind already. Hopefully my few tips to keeping your resolution can help you out, too. I would love to hear what you guys are writing down as your resolutions/goals for the year? Let me know in the comments. 😊
