Happy Thursday! Today marks Mike and I getting engaged three years ago to the date. I guess you could say today is our “propose-aversary.” 🥰 I thought it would be fun to share with you all how Mike and I got engaged.
So like I said, it was 3 years ago today (May 23, 2016) when Mike proposed. For weeks leading up to this, I was on edge wondering when it was going to happen. I had picked my ring out with Mike so that he knew exactly what I wanted. I didn’t know when but I knew we’d get engaged soon.
May 23 started off like a normal day. When I got home from work, I noticed a bunch of letters on our neighbors doorsteps. I thought nothing of it, though. When I got to our front door, we had a letter, too. I picked the letter up and opened it as I walked through our front door.
Although the envelope had been addressed to Mike and I, the paper inside was completely blank. I was seriously so confused why the letter was blank. I put the blank paper down and went to go walk towards our kitchen. As I walked towards the kitchen, I noticed the sign on the ground that read “New Home.” (We had just moved into our condo a few months earlier.) There was an arrow on the sign pointing to our bedroom. The arrow led to our closed bedroom door. (Weird since we never close our bedroom door.) On the door there was a sign- “New Last Name?” As I walked into our bedroom, Mike was on one knee. He asked if I would marry him and of course I said yes! 💍🥰
It was so sweet how much planning and thought he put into the proposal. He had been waiting a few weeks to do this and had hid the ring at his dad’s house. That afternoon, he even parked his car 5 blocks away because he didn’t want me to see it and wonder why his car was there.
Hope you guys enjoyed hearing the story of how we got engaged. If you’re married or engaged, how did your significant other propose? I would love to hear. Let me know in the comments below!!
