I decided instead of doing a “travel guide” for my New York trip, I would share some of my favorite things that we did. In no way do I have enough knowledge of all the places in New York to tell which are the best to see/eat/ stay at. New York is so full of amazing restaurants, things to see & do. There is no way I can give a definitive list especially when I only spent a quick weekend trip there. So instead I am sharing where we ate and what we did that I would highly recommend to you when you are in the big apple. *Disclaimer* I feel like NYC is ever changing and always coming out with new places to go, so here are my recommendations at this moment. I’m already planning when I can go back for more. 🥰

Tacombi: The best little taco/mexican food spot. So good, in fact, that Mike is still talking about it. When Mike gives his seal of approval that’s when I know something is truly good (bc if it’s not good, I’ll hear about it 🙄) Not only is the food good, but it is the cutest inside and out. Plus they make ordering easy. You just mark what you want right on the menu. This spot kind of reminds me of Bartaco, too, which is one of my faves for tacos! (Shared all about Bartaco here)

Buttermilk Channel: If you’re in Brooklyn, I would definitely recommend stopping here. We missed brunch but their brunch menu looks so good. We went for lunch – I got the grilled cheese and Mike got a burger. Both were 😋

Taiyaki NYC: This was on Mike’s list of must do’s while in NYC and it did not disappoint. A fun fact about Mike is he’s VERY organized when we go on trips. He spends a lot of time beforehand making spreadsheets of places to go, where they are located, etc. It’s so funny bc he will always fight me about taking trips, but once we agree to it he goes all in and makes the most detailed itineraries. Anywho, this place was worth the walk we took to get there. Mike and I shared the rainbow unicorn version and it was the perfect sweet treat.

Flour Shop: Welcome to rainbow heaven! The decor of this place alone made me so happy! Then Mike and I shared one of the explosion cakes and we were in heaven. Basically it is a mini-cake (they also have a larger version) filled with candies so when you cut into it, it “explodes” (like a piñata but better!) They also had cake push-pops, which we didn’t try, but are perfect if you don’t want a whole cake.

Go to Dumbo: Not only does this area offer the perfect view of the Brooklyn Bridge to take a picture with, it’s also a great spot to walk around and explore!

Take pictures in front of Sezane: If you go to NYC and don’t take a picture in front of Sezane’s popular outdoor flower installation, did you really go to NYC? Kidding. Kind of. Not only is it pretty to look at it is perfect for the gram. I’m pretty

Ride the subway: I know we have the el in Chicago and it’s basically the same thing, but I feel like you have to ride the New York subway at least once. It’s like a rite of passage, right?

Soho: This was easily my favorite neighborhood we went to. I could walk around and explore this area for hours. It’s so cute and something about the vibe speaks to me. Plus, it definitely has some of the best shopping and restaurants so you can’t lose by going to soho!

Is there anything on my list I missed that you’d recommend when traveling to NYC? I would love to know so that I can check it out the next time I go!
